Sixth Annual Square Foot Art Show and Sale

AUGUST 3 to 15, 2019

How much creative punch can you pack into one square foot? The images above illustrate work by three artists who took on this challenge last year. Our 2018 show was very popular with both artists and gallery visitors. It was an international show, and we exhibited outstanding work by artists from Grand Manan, mainland NB, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and several American states.

We invite you to be part of this year’s event. It will feature a variety of artwork — paintings, photographs, drawings, ceramics, wood, and mixed media. All work is welcome, and there is just one stipulation. A square foot measures 12 inches by 12 inches, and the outside dimensions of your piece (including any frame) must measure 12 inches by 12 inches.

All the artwork will be for sale at a fixed price of $200. The gallery will raise funds with an entry fee of $25, and a 25% commission on sales. Gallery visitors will vote for their favourite pieces, and People’s Choice Awards of $200, $150 and $100 will be given for the three most popular works in the show.

Complete the Entry Form and submit it along with the Entry Fee of $25 in cash or by cheque payable to the Grand Manan Art Gallery, or by credit card at the Gallery, by July 29, 2019. Up to two works may be submitted for the one entry fee. The work must be ready to hang, and a label with the artist’s name, medium and title of the piece must be attached to the back of the artwork.

The Gallery may use an image of your artwork for publicity purposes to promote the Show. We respect community standards and reserve the right not to hang any work that is deemed inappropriate. We will take normal precautions to care for all submitted artwork; however, the Gallery will assume no risk for loss or damage to any artwork whether from manmade or natural causes. It is the sole responsibility of the artist to insure each work against risk in whatever amount is considered necessary.

Artwork may be hand delivered, mailed or sent by courier, and it must reach the Gallery by August 1, 2019. Artwork that is mailed or sent by courier must be in a reusable shipping container with a return address. Unsold artwork that is not collected by August 22 will become the property of the Gallery.

For convenience of New Brunswick artists, artwork may be taken to Bates Framing in Fredericton, or By The Sea, 122 Water Street, in St. Andrews from July 30 to 31. Please indicate your drop location on your entry form.
